Has anyone ever read anything by Ambrose Bierce, or Jack London?

What books should I start with?

Notes

  1. the-unknown-friend answered: The Sea Wolf is my favorite Jack London novel.
  2. jhstudiolo answered: London, Call of the Wild (especially if you like dogs)
  3. voyellesjunk answered: just read ;the monk and the hangman’s daughter’ - it’s written to be quite accessible - definitely want to read more from the author.
  4. thewoodwose answered: Both, yes! Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf from London, anything at all from Bierce. Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge especially.
  5. demoniality answered: I second the ghost/weird stories by Bierce, his “Can Such Things Be?”
  6. johnathan328 answered: Jack London, White Fang or call of the Wild. Both good reads, mom read them to me when I was 7 and I read them in my twenties.
  7. oddharmonic answered: Bierce’s “Devil’s Dictionary” is a classic of scathing, cynical wit.
  8. greengoddessemporium answered: Call of the Wild aroooooooorrrrr
  9. l-amour-a-trois answered: London: Martin Eden. Bierce: Devil’s Dictionary
  10. alecto answered: White Fang by Jack London was excellent
  11. inanetitter answered: If you’re reading Bierce, I’d recommend starting with his ghost/weird stories as that is probably more to your tastes: amzn.to/w5XW01
